About the Artist
"Unseen Altars" features sculpture by former Iowan,
Susan Van Geest. This exhibition displays the many
sculptural and mixed media pieces that demonstrate
Susan's innovative approach on recycling everyday
objects with an organic and contemporary twist!
Susan communicates the meaning of truth, reality,
freewill, grace, and judgment through her work.
The exhibit features other mediums as well, including
acrylic & oil paintings, charcoal drawings, marble
sculpture, collage, metal and found objects.
Van Geest served as the full time associate professor of
art and the art department chair at Dordt College (Sioux
Center, IA) Northwest Community College in Sheldon, and
the University of South Dakota, in Vermillion, SD.
Aside from teaching, Susan participates in numerous
invitational, juried, solo, and group exhibitions
throughout the region, as well as having been featured
in several publications such as CIVA Art Scholars
Publication. Her work can also be seen at the
International Museum of Collage, Assemblage and
Construction in Fort Worth, Texas. |
