Clay County Fair Art Barn
Arts
on Grand hosts the Art Barn at the world's largest county fair - the Clay
County Fair.
The Fair begins on the Saturday
following Labor Day, and continues for the next nine days, ending on
Sunday.
The Art Barn is open daily from 9 am - 6:30 pm. and features:
-
regional artists demonstrating their talent and selling their artwork,
- watercolor painting and free hands-on projects for kids of ALL ages,
and
- LEGOs to play with courtesy of the American Institute of Architects -
Iowa Chapter
The Art Barn has a new look and location! It is still located on the west side of the
fairgrounds, across from the horse arena in the building previously
known as the maintenance shed. You can't miss us! It's two doors east of the "Chop Shop", at the intersection of 2nd Street and 5th Avenue.
The building looks like a barn, and is white with a bright red roof!

Foreign Film Festival
"Villisca"
October 23
Following the film, Dr. Edgar V. Epperly, the primary historical
consultant for this award winning film, will make a special appearance
at Carey's Electronics. Epperly has studied the still-unsolved 1912
Villisca, IA axe murders for over 50 years and is considered to be the
foremost authority on the crime. Epperly will respond to questions and
sign copies of the new national release version of "Villisca" on DVD.
He will also display the actual murder weapon, the infamous Villisca
axe. Epperly will soon donate the artifact to the newly formed Villisca
Historical Society, so this is likely to be the only time the axe will
be on display in the Spencer area. "Villisca: Living with a Mystery"
will be released nationally on DVD on October 24, 2006.
